Greater upstream investment in countries such as Oman and Egypt will boost the MEA’s overall gas output.

Oman is reaping the benefits of non-associated gas production from the Khazzan gas field. BP brought the first phase of the project online in September 2017, and it hit its plateau capacity of 28.3 million cubic metres per day (MMcm/d) in Q1 2018. BP reached an FID in March on the second phase, which will have a capacity of 14.2 MMcm/d and is expected to come online in 2021.
