Latin America’s LNG needs will remain weak despite Panama becoming the region’s latest importer of the fuel.
Panama imported its first LNG cargo in June. The shipment, which came from the Sabine Pass plant in the US, will be used to start up the 1.5 mtpa Costa Norte LNG terminal and a gas-fired power plant being built at Colón.
