
Australia’s LNG and gas sector looks likely to face a host of new reporting obligations from 2019 as regulators take tangible steps to improve the transparency of the nation’s eastern gas market.
The move follows ongoing concern over a lack of competition in the upstream gas sector. Other factors behind the proposed new regulation are rising prices and sporadic supply issues, which critics say are adding significantly to local costs and are beginning to stifle the development and competitiveness of Aussie LNG on the world stage.
