Qatar, the world’s largest LNG exporter, will withdraw from OPEC in January amid deteriorating relations with its neighbouring countries.
Saad al-Kaabi, the country’s minister of energy, denied the decision was politically driven and said it was triggered by government’s desire to focus on boosting Qatar’s liquefaction capacity to 110 mtpa from 77 mtpa.
