Trinidad and Tobago’s agreement to import gas from Venezuela will bring only modest relief to the country’s shortage-hit LNG industry. Trinidad’s government has said it will start importing 4.2 million cubic metres per day (MMcm/d) from the Dragón field, which is part of Venezuela’s Mariscal Sucre complex, in 2020 and gradually ramp up to 8.5 MMcm/d.
The initial imports would be equivalent to just over 4% of Trinidad’s average daily gas production in H1 2018....
