Trump’s decision on 22 January to introduce new customs duties on imported photovoltaic cells and modules is expected to hamper the development of solar PV projects in the short term. The new duty will decline from 30% in the first year to 15% after four years. In terms of the global development of the solar PV industry, a key driver will be the ability of overseas suppliers – including in China and South Korea – to adjust their prices and marketing strategies.
