
Gas is gaining ground in Kuwait’s power portfolio, driven partly by the country’s growing desire to diversify its generation mix away from oil and its derivatives. Progress in boosting non-associated gas production from Kuwait’s Jurassic fields and plans to increase imports will also help promote use of the fuel in the power sector. Nevertheless, intersector competition for gas is ratcheting up in Kuwait, meaning utilities will continue to rely on oil products.
