Total has announced it has obtained two deepwater exploration and production blocks off Mauritania. The concessions cover a combined area of 1.42 million hectares.
The French major will operate blocks C15 and C31 with a 90% interest, while Mauritania’s state-owned Société Mauritanienne des Hydrocarbures et de Patrimoine Minier will hold the remaining 10%.
The acquisition means Total now controls five licences in the country, including blocks C7, C9 and C18, as well as its exclusive downstream distribution business. It is planning...
