The surprise appointment of a solar power champion as the new head of Eurogas signals the industry is beginning to adopt a more climate-friendly strategy.

James Watson – currently the chief executive of SolarPower Europe – will take up his position as secretary general of the Brussels-based gas lobby group from January next year. 

This is not a conservative choice; Watson comes from a ‘green’ background as the voice of the European solar power industry, which has enjoyed substantial growth over the last decade.
