The LNG industry needs to focus on brownfield projects to prevent a global supply crunch in 2023 as large greenfield projects can be difficult to deliver on time and on budget.

Analysts had until recently been forecasting a glut in the market by that time because of the rapid expansion of liquefaction capacity. However, forecasts now predict demand will increase at a similar rate, leading to a shortage as soon as 2023.
