
Novatek’s chief executive, Leonid Mikhelson, has made no secret of his ambition to become a major player on the global LNG stage. Mikhelson is eyeing total production of more than 55 mtpa by 2030 from Novatek’s existing and future liquefaction facilities inside the Arctic Circle. If he achieves it, the privately owned company would rank third behind Qatar and Australia as one of the world’s top LNG producers.
