Chevron is close to bringing its $4.7 billion Chuandongbei natural gas project in southwest China’s Sichuan province online after years of delays and disagreements with its partner China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC). The development is slated to be one of the country’s single largest production centres when it starts up at the end of this year.

The first of two sour gas processing plants will be mechanically complete and producing gas by the end of this year, Chevron upstream spokesman Kurt Glaubitz confirmed to Interfax on Wednesday.
