Qatar is targeting emerging LNG importers as some of its long-term supply contracts near expiry and it looks for the best netback opportunities.

Qatar’s LNG netbacks from customers in the MEA and countries such as India and Pakistan remain higher than those from Northeast Asia, Europe and Latin America – a fact that has been reflected in the flow of Qatari cargoes. The netback from the MEA, India and Pakistan for August delivery has averaged $5/MMBtu. This is higher than the $4.5/MMBtu available from Northeast Asia, the $4.3/MMBtu from Europe, and the $3.8/MMBtu from Latin America.
