Latin America has been the main market for LNG from the Sabine Pass plant in the US, but there is tough competition for US LNG in other regions such as Europe and Asia.

The Sabine Pass LNG plant exported 1.02 mt of LNG in H1 2016, of which 65.7% went to Latin America – specifically, to Argentina, Chile and Brazil. The plant also sent one cargo each to Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, India and Portugal. Sabine Pass has exported three cargoes so far in July - one of which has gone to Spain and the other two are yet to reach destinations.
