Brazil’s pre-salt gas production will be boosted by government plans to end Petrobras’s dominance over pre-salt acreage.
In July, a committee in the lower house of Brazil’s parliament recommended a bill that would allow companies other than Petrobras to control and operate new projects in the country’s pre-salt acreage. The bill has received approval from the upper house and is now in the lower house for a vote (see Petrobras’s pre-salt monopoly nears end, 11 July 2016).
