From using it as a replacement for other fossil fuels to keeping it in the ground, the views on what role gas should play in the global energy transition are wide-ranging. In the world’s three largest energy markets – which are also the world's three largest emitters of carbon dioxide – the share of gas in the energy mix is varied.
