Intense competition for gas supplies between the industrial and power sectors in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) has triggered a boom in non-associated gas development, and the trend is set to continue. 

A research note by GGA in early October predicted non-associated gas will account for around 57% of marketed gas production in the MENA region in 2020, up from 23% in 1990.
