The Altai gas pipeline will go directly to China from Western Siberia, bypassing other countries that have offered to let the interconnector run through their territories.

“A decision has already been made that it will go directly from Russia to China, without entering the territory of [other] countries,” Zhang Xin, director of foreign relations for China National Petroleum Corp. (CNPC), told Interfax
