Russian President Vladimir Putin scored a hit in defence of Gazprom’s long-term oil-indexed contracts with members of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) on Monday. The members endorsed Putin’s call for oil-linked prices, at the same time as Russia is negotiating gas prices with China.

Moscow is losing the battle for purely oil-linked long-term contracts in Europe, so the message from Putin and the GECF seems targeted more at Beijing.
