Interfax talked to Maria van der Hoeven, executive director of the International Energy Agency (IEA), about Germany’s energy policies and the role of gas in Europe’s largest economy.

Interfax: What are the main findings of your latest report on Germany?

Maria van der Hoeven: We commend Germany for its commitment to developing a low-carbon energy system over the long term – in particular, its comprehensive energy strategy, ambitious renewable energy targets and plans to reduce energy consumption.
