
Malaysian NOC Petronas is fighting legal and political battles with the state of Sarawak, home to the country’s 29.3 mtpa LNG plant, as the eastern state seeks greater control of its oil and gas resources.
The Sarawak state government made a bid for control of its resources in March when it announced that it intended to assume full regulatory authority over the state’s oil and gas industry from 1 July as part of a push to devolve power from the federal government.
