Brazil’s imports show no sign of slowing

Brazil’s spending on gas imports in the first four months of 2013 soared by 88% compared with the same period last year, according to data on the website of the country’s Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade.

The country spent $2.46 billion on piped imports and LNG cargoes until 30 April, compared with $1.3 billion during the same period last year. LNG made up around 45% of total spending, up from its 23% share in 2012.
