The Prague-based Power Exchange Central Europe (PXE) inaugurated a gas futures trading platform on Monday in the latest example of the growing number of market-based transactions in the region, but challenges remain to greater regional integration – most notably in Slovakia.

The launch is in partnership with the Central European Gas Hub (CEGH) in Austria, manager of the Baumgarten storage centre and the largest gas trading platform in Central Europe. The new Prague bourse trades on deliveries in February 2014. Products on offer include monthly, quarterly,...
