The Barents Sea has long been touted as a highly prospective area for those willing to tackle the difficult operational environment, and Norway’s latest licensing round – the results of which were announced last week – showed interest in the area is rising fast.

However, despite a sense the Scandinavian country stands on the brink of another gas revolution, the changing face of global supply means the technical challenge provided by Arctic conditions may be overshadowed by the logistics of finding a market for the product.
