
The government of Morocco plans to sell one of its gas-fired power plants as part of efforts to create a competitive market in gas-fired generation over the next decade – although it has revised down its target for power capacity from gas.
The 384 MW Tahaddart power station was inaugurated in 2005 and was Africa’s first combined-cycle gas plant. It provides around 7% of Morocco’s electricity and is run by Énergie Électrique de Tahaddart (EET), which is 48% owned by the country’s state energy firm, ONEE....
