
Rising domestic gas production has drastically reduced Argentina’s reliance on imported LNG, but dispensing with the Exemplar – one of the country’s two FSRUs – could prove to be a gamble.
The Excelerate Energy vessel departed Bahía Blanca on 29 October after Buenos Aires opted not to renew its lease. The Exemplar arrived at Bahía Blanca in June 2008 and was followed in 2011 by the Excelerate Expedient, which was moored at Escobar in the Paraná River 50 km from Buenos Aires.
