The developers of Namibia’s long-delayed Kudu gas-to-power project are petitioning the government to reconsider providing financial guarantees for the scheme, without which it cannot move forward.
State-owned utility NamPower and its partners in the project decided late last year to reduce Kudu’s costs by almost halving its planned power output, from 880 MW to 475 MW, and now have a few months to convince the government that the scheme is viable. The state financial support package will be essential to make the project bankable.
