The MEA’s gas demand is set to grow in 2017, which will maintain the region’s dependence on imports of the fuel.
GGA estimates total gas demand of the key MEA countries – Iran, Egypt, Turkey, Algeria, Nigeria, Yemen, Libya and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) members – rose by 3% year on year in 2016, to 644.8 billion cubic metres. GGA forecasts demand will increase by 3.3% on an annual basis in 2017.
