Despite growth at the start of the year, Indian gas production looks likely to decline further.
India’s gas production shot up by 12% year on year in January 2017. However, this is a statistical blip, not the start of a new trend. Production in January 2016 was just 2.4 bcm, down by roughly 15% year on year. Production in January 2017 was 2.7 bcm – roughly the same as December 2016 and 10% below the 3 bcm target for the month.
