Gas demand in India remains strong, but growth in the power sector continues to face challenges. While demand in Northeast Asia as a whole is expected to increase by 3% year on year this autumn, declines are expected to continue in South Korea.
Gas demand in India rose by 16% year on year in June, to reach 4.4 billion cubic metres. Although this is strong in annual terms, it is a slowdown from the rates seen in most months so far this year – the average rate of annual growth between January and May was 24%.
