- Prospects for a flatline gas production in the US increased after the EIA lowered gas production figures between January and August 2013
- Gas demand in the US northeast will rise with the arrival of colder weather, resulting in supply tightness in regions such as New England
- Recent interest rate hikes by the Brazilian central bank are likely to make LNG imports cheaper for the country, which in turn will tighten the regional LNG market even further
- The Mexican Congress approved structural reforms to the country's energy sector in December. However, the reforms do not render short-term benefits to Mexico's gas sector
