South Korean LNG imports rose by 7% year on year in May with importers taking delivery of 2.9 mt of the fuel.

South Korean LNG imports rose by 7% year on year in May with importers taking delivery of 2.9 mt of the fuel, data from the country’s Custom Service showed, as slightly elevated monthly temperatures and shuttered nuclear plants buoyed demand.

Average prices rose to $14.61/MMBtu during the month from $14.40/MMBtu in March. Meanwhile, Japanese buyers paid an average of $16.29/MMBtu during May.
