The developers of a gas storage facility in Northern Ireland are aiming to provide the British market with a substitute for Centrica’s closed Rough storage facility, but the project may struggle to attract the required financing.

Islandmagee Storage Ltd – a joint venture between InfraStrata and Mutual Energy – is planning to build a 450 million cubic metre (MMcm) storage facility in County Antrim, just north of Belfast.
