
Posco Daewoo is preparing a large 3D seismic sweep off Bangladesh after a preliminary 2D survey completed earlier this year signalled at least five prospective gas structures in deepwater Block DS-12, which lies close to significant gas fields in neighbouring Myanmar.
The South Korean operator, the only company assessing Bangladesh’s deepwater potential, will start the 2,000 square km shoot in the gas-prone Bay of Bengal this November. If successful, exploration drilling will follow.
