Latin America-focused explorer GeoPark has made a gas discovery in the Fell block in Magallanes, a region in the far south of Chile.
The company said that a test on the Jauke 1 exploration well yielded average production of 164,000 cubic metres per day.
The gas will be sold to petrochemicals giant Methanex via a long-term contract.
The Jauke gas field is part of the Dicky geological structure in the 368 hectare Fell block, which borders Argentina.
