AES has inaugurated its new LNG terminal and 381 MW gas-fired power plant in Colon in Panama.
The $1.15 billion facility is expected to begin commercial generating operations on 1 September and LNG tank distribution operations in 2019.
The terminal received its first LNG cargo from the US in June.
AES subsidiary GasNatural Atlántico will import up to 400,000 tpa of US LNG from Engie for 10 years starting this year.
