South Korea is set to impose operating limits on its coal- and oil-fired power plants, according to Yonhap News.

The government aims to scale back operations at 42 of the country’s 68 coal- and oil-fired power plants when fine dust warnings are issued.

To reduce carbon emissions, state-run utilities will seek to increase the use of low-sulphur coal and upgrade older facilities.

These measures are expected to reduce fine dust emissions by 43% on an annual basis between April and June next...
