Tensions are running high in the East Mediterranean, with the waters around Cyprus expected to be the scene of a new round of confrontation.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced imminent plans to send a drillship to explore for oil and gas off the island on Tuesday. Meanwhile, ExxonMobil – which holds a licence issued by the Cypriot government to explore Block 10 – has already deployed a vessel to Cyprus.
