Alaska has secured five partners for its three-train Alaska LNG (AKLNG) export project during United States President Donald Trump’s state visit to China. The agreement, signed in the presence of the US president and his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, was a success for Trump’s administration and for the state of Alaska, but few have mentioned the obstacles the $45 billion project still has to overcome before it can make an FID.
