The Indian government is looking to boost domestic gas consumption by including gas in the Goods and Services Tax (GST) and reforming gas pipeline tariffs to encourage investment in infrastructure.

“The two bottlenecks to increasing gas’s share in Indian energy demand are: pricing relative to substitute fuels, and infrastructure connectivity,” Anupama Sen, research director at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, told Interfax Natural Gas Daily.
