South Korea’s Hyundai Heavy Industries has received an order for 10 gas-ready large ore carriers, according to Splash24/7.
The order comes from metals company Polaris, which is seeking to rejuvenate its fleet following the sinking of the Stellar Daisy in March.
The carriers will be built with the potential to be converted to using LNG as a fuel.
They will be some of the largest gas-ready vessels built, with a deadweight of 325,000 tons, and will be delivered in phases through to 2021.
