
China’s new LNG buyers are joining their global peers in seeking more flexible and cheaper volumes under shorter supply contracts, delegates heard at the China LNG & Gas International Summit & Exhibition in Beijing last week.
A string of private Chinese firms and smaller state-owned companies have emerged in recent years to import cargoes independently of the state-run NOCs. Among the budding importers are city gas distributors and power utilities, which have sought better prices and greater control over supply.
