Victory for Donald Trump unsettles Brussels

Donald Trump’s election victory last week sent shockwaves through the energy industry, but the softer tone of his victory speech has given some in Brussels hope he may be less destructive than feared.

Trump has previously threatened to withdraw from the United States’ commitments under the Paris climate agreement and bin President Barack Obama’s Clean Power Plan. However, radical reform of US climate and energy policy will not be straightforward and Trump may have over-promised on what he can actually deliver.
