China’s unexpectedly soft gas demand this year, as the country makes a structural shift to a service economy, has changed the dynamics of the global gas market.
China’s potential as a future growth-driver is less certain, causing jitters among global companies that bet heavily on supplying formerly insatiable Chinese demand.
