Gazprom’s bid to shift its focus eastwards continues apace with the signing of a second major gas export deal with China.

The agreement was one of a host of infrastructure contracts signed on Thursday, the first day of Chinese President Xi Jinping’s visit to Moscow.

It features plans to ship up to 30 billion cubic metres of gas per year to China from existing fields in Western Siberia via the so-called Western Route.
