US LNG project makes play for Chinese market

A planned LNG export plant in the United States is openly courting Chinese buyers first for offtake deals – a rarity among US LNG projects, which have so far mainly targeted Japan, South Korea and India when signing up Asian customers.

Southern California Telephone & Energy LNG (SCT&E LNG) is vying to build a six-train plant on Louisiana’s Gulf Coast that would cost $9.2 billion and export 12 mtpa.
