China distributors hail impact of gas price merger

City gas operators in China have praised Beijing’s decision last month to merge two citygate gas price tiers into a single tariff – and have also tipped themselves to emerge as winners from the sooner-than-expected move.

The National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) will lift state-regulated tariffs marginally on 1 April while cutting oil-indexed prices, with the unified price set to be lower overall.
