Middle East & Africa: Production

January 2017

Algeria’s gas output is rising fast, helping the country to meet domestic demand and fulfil gas and LNG export obligations.

Sharp rises in gas output from the In Amenas and In Salah Southern Fields projects are transforming the fortunes of Algeria’s gas sector. All three trains of the In Amenas project, which have a combined capacity of 9 bcm/y, are online. Algeria restarted production at the third train in Q3 2016 after it was shut down due to damage caused by an attack by insurgents in January 2013. The country has also ramped up output at the four southern fields at In Salah, which were brought online in early 2016. GGA understands the In Salah project is producing an average of 9 bcm/y, its highest output since H1 2013.
