Argentina’s Pluspetrol to step up Peru exploration

Pluspetrol will invest $1.17 billion over the next three years to explore all three of Peru’s hydrocarbon provinces in the jungle – centre and north – the company confirmed on Friday. The company also appears to have doubled its budget for the highly prospective and politically sensitive block 108.

A Lima-based spokesman for the company confirmed comments made to local media by Germán Jiménez, Pluspetrol’s Peru manager, that the cash will be split among five blocks: 56, 76, 88, 102 and 108. Pluspetrol will allocate $320-350...
