Plans for a gas interconnector between Hungary and Slovenia are under threat after questions have been raised over the limited gains offered to Hungary by the project. While the EU has given the project its blessing and Slovenia stands to gain from its development, the benefits to Hungary are less clear. 

The 113-km bi-directional pipeline was recognised by the EU as a Project of Common Interest (PCI) in November. The interconnector is planned to run between Nagykanizsa in western Hungary and Kidričevo in northeastern Slovenia,...
